Your Whole Life: Mind and Body, Heart and Soul

posted in: Personal Growth | 0

In a time when our basic way of moving through life is being challenged and we may find ourselves separated from people we love and routines that bring us comfort, it might seem counter-intuitive to talk about the experience of connection. But wholeness and a commitment to living whole has never been so important.

Take a moment to consider your whole life:

  • Are you living wholly connected?
  • Does who you are feel connected with how you show up in the world?
  • Do you feel whole regardless of what’s happening in the world?
  • Do you experience wholeness in your mind, body, heart and soul?

Living a life that’s wholly connected begins with your true center. As we move through uncertain times together, let’s commit to living wholly connected, day by day. Here are some quick touchpoints, drawn from Eve Willson’s book Wholly Connected, to support you as you restore your connection to wholeness and begin to live from your true center.

Mind: Wholly Connected to Thoughts Rooted in the Truth of Connection

“As you travel along The Spiral Path of Connection, you come to realize that you are always connected. You begin to see that you have never been separate except in your own mind’s limited perspective. Your life journey inevitably leads you back to your home and to the True Self that, in truth, you never left. It has been there all along, waiting for you.”

How often do you allow your thoughts to dwell on separation? How often do you think thoughts that are rooted in wholeness and connection? Begin to choose to focus your thoughts. Notice all the ways we are connected. See how every facet of your life is connected to another. Observe how the thoughts you think are connected to the beliefs you embrace and the way you move through each day.

What voice are you listening to? Do you turn to the ego’s persistent pleas and more narrow perspective or are you following the inner guidance of your wise self, your true self? Just for today, choose to listen for the voice that rises up from your true center. We discuss this in greater depth in the first section of the book Wholly Connected and in a forthcoming book where we will explore steps to reclaim your voice of truth. Begin to listen for that voice in every situation and circumstance. Notice the choices you are making when it comes to the thoughts running through your mind.

Body: Wholly Connected to the Gift of Physical Form and Presence

“As you explore deeper within, you realize that you are not perfect in your earthly body and your present life. You begin to know that is okay. You come to realize that you are fine just as you are. You see that you are a uniquely magnificent person, as are all others. When you see yourself as anything less than this, you have simply forgotten the truth of who you really are.”

Do you see yourself as separate from your body or one with it? Practice being present to your physical body. Embrace all of who you are, not just your best physical attributes.

Do you see your body as gift? Do you choose to honor it and care for it? Consider ways you might you nourish your body and allow it to support you in living wholly connected.

Heart: Wholly Connected to Your True Feelings and Heart’s Desire

“What is important to me? What gives meaning to my life? What do I really need or desire? What do I love to do? As you ask yourself these questions, notice what feelings come up. Do you notice an energy shift? Does your heart skip a beat? Your feelings help you to better understand what sparks that natural curiosity, desire, and awe that connect you with your True Self.”

Are you living in a way that honors and appreciates your true feelings? Or do you frequently brush them aside or bury them beneath things you deem more pressing or important? This week, take 5 minutes each day to tune in to those deep desires and longings. Begin by allowing this space for consideration of what matters most to you.

How connected are you to what you are feeling as you move through your day? Become more aware of what you are feeling by consciously naming your feelings. Doing so will increase your self-awareness and self-compassion.

Soul: Wholly Connected to the Call to an Aligned and Fulfilling Life

“Outside distractions that perpetuate a lack of commitment to knowing the self are merely attempts to ignore or numb a deeper desire that is not recognized or understood. Those who push away their inner desire for connection within often experience an emptiness or hole in the soul. They are seeking connection and fulfillment through material substitutions for what is real. Yet, there are no material substitutions that can offer lasting fulfillment and satisfaction. Only daring to make the inner journey will quench the thirst for life.”

Have you considered your soul? Do you have a regular connection practice of listening to your life through meditation or stillness? If you do, consider how you might go deeper and live wholly connected and aligned with your soul’s wisdom. If you have not yet adopted such a practice, begin and notice any change in your level of connection and fulfillment in life.

Are you invested and participating on a regular basis in the kinds of activities that feed your soul? Dare to take one step toward more soulful connections with yourself, with others and in your community. Set an intention to take one practical step to overcome perceived barriers to more fulfilling and joyful connections.

In our world everything is connected at some level.

We all exist in webs of relationship. We are all inter-connected and meant to be in relationship to one another, often through our connection to aligned communities.

While this is a challenge in our current circumstance, True Center is here, holding the space with you, for your wholeness and for a wholly connected community in Cherokee County and beyond. Our commitment to you in this time is to provide a welcoming space to remember who you are, reclaim your voice of truth, and restore your connection to wholeness.

While we are all practicing social distancing and may not have the privilege of gathering in one space together, let’s honor our connection in this virtual space. Let’s lend our virtual support to one another as we embrace wholeness, connection and community and live wholly connected—mind, body, heart and soul.
