4 Ways to Connect Your Heart to the Heart of Community

posted in: Community | 0

Community and ChangeWhat is the heart of community? Thriving communities are evolving communities, ever in a state of flux and change. Studies show that the health and well-being of the community as a whole is dependent upon the involvement of those within the community.

True Center is stepping up with a focus on celebrating our community this fall and helping individuals and families find greater meaning and purpose through a reconnection to their local community. A desire to connect and express yourself within the local community becomes stronger when we know and connect to our true center.

We’ll talk about this and more in our FREE Community Conversation on Thursday, October 12 midday. To join us and add your voice follow the instructions below.

When we step into the river of community, we add something to the community. As you connect to your true center, you can contribute to the community in deeper ways. ~ Eve Willson, True Center Executive Director

Every Person Has Something to Contribute to the Heart of Community

True Center envisions a thriving community where every individual is a valued contributor to the whole. We are here to be in service to the community and to the greater good by fostering opportunities for personal transformation and community enrichment.

The many workshops we offer supports others in remembering who they really are, reclaiming their voice of truth, and restoring connection to wholeness. That includes both inner wholeness and the outer wholeness when members of the community connect their heart with the heartbeat of the larger community.

Celebrating community is about pausing to acknowledge and be grateful for the thriving community of which we are an integral and contributing part. Asking this question helps us become more aware of the intricate relationships that are woven into the rich fabric of the community.

What are you grateful for when you consider our community?

We are each a part of this rich fabric. When we celebrate the beauty and richness that each person contributes, to include our own contribution, we strengthen the bonds of community.

The Heart of Community: Heart-centered Ways to Get Involved

Get InvolvedThriving communities are defined by the level of commitment in individuals and families who break through perceived barriers to bring their whole hearts to the heart of community. Rooted in the fabric of the local community, True Center is “the place where personal growth meets love in action.” Learn more about our mission.

There are both inner and outer journeys, and the outward expression of your heart is what creates momentum and growth in the larger community. The more of us who commit to expressing who we are and sharing that with others, the stronger the bonds between individuals, families and groups within the community as a whole. Here are ideas for connecting to your community:

  • Be a mentor. Mentoring can happen in scores of formal and informal ways, says Willson. From taking the big step of becoming a foster parent or adopting a child right down to volunteering for a local community nonprofit, your presence to others in the community is what matters most of all. Consider how you might share your knowledge, gifts and talents with the younger generation or with specific populations within society, such as the aging or disabled.
    .
  • Show compassion for animals. Your family might choose to rescue an animal or get involved in a volunteer organization that assist with providing care to animals. Communities are defined by how they treat those without a voice in the community. This extends to our furry friends and those pets or natural habitat that have been displaced or forgotten. If you have a heart for animals, reach out to the local animal rescue and volunteer or adopt a pet in need.
    .
  • Share your voice. Consider convening a group to discuss issues that matter. This could happen in your neighborhood or at the city-wide or even county-wide level. Being a participant in local issues begins with finding ways to stay in touch with what’s happening locally and sharing your unique perspective. See below to join the conversation this fall at True Center.
    .
  • Commit to your own personal growth. As you continue to grow yourself, you are also equipping yourself to get clear on ways you can contribute more fully to the community. This sets a great example in your own family and for other community members.

Our relationship with ourselves also impacts the ways that we interact with all of nature, to include the nature of community. As we come into deeper self-awareness, our love for self grows. This inner love naturally flows outward and is expressed in our connections to family, community and beyond. ~ Eve Willson, True Center Executive Director

In communities considered to be thriving, inclusion of all is valued. As we respect and appreciate the unique contributions that every person makes to our community, we create a solid foundation for our community’s future. It happens one person at a time, one day at a time.
