5 Quick-Start Ideas to Find Your True Center

Restore Your WholenessMost of us hear the word “community” and we think about a physical place or perhaps a sense of belonging and connection to friends and neighbors. True Center is here to help more individuals and families realize that community begins within. We fulfill our mission through workshops and other events open to the community.

There is a strong connection between inner wholeness and thriving communities. During her 20-year career as a social worker, True Center founder Eve Willson has witnessed firsthand the links between knowing who you are and becoming a full contributor to the local community.

When you develop a deeper sense of authenticity and wholeness, this naturally leads to greater outer connection and stronger communities. We’ll discuss the state of our community and its link to finding your true center at our upcoming Community Conversation.

When each one of us remembers who we are, reclaims our voice of truth, and restores our connection to wholeness, we form stronger communities. This is how we exist together in peace and harmony. This is how we experience greater joy and fulfillment in our neighborhoods and communities. ~ Eve Willson, True Center Executive Director

5 Things to Try at Home

Once we become aware of who we are, we can reach for these three keys to unlock greater joy and fulfillment. While there are endless ways to remember who you are, reclaim your voice of truth and reconnect to wholeness, here are five quick-start ideas.

  1. Get quiet. Quiet reflection is one of the best ways to come into the present awareness of each moment. When we experience full presence, we are connected to our true self. We aren’t worrying about the future or regretting the past. In fact, when someone is centered in the present moment, it is impossible to live in a state of worry or ruminate on the past.
    .
  2. Start where you are. Accept yourself where you are as you are. Even in the places you experience some level of dissatisfaction, accept things as they are. From this place of acceptance, we are able to then begin to make the changes we would like to see in our lives.
    .
  3. Clarify what gives meaning to your life. Examine your values. What makes your heart sing? What truly brings meaning to your life? Once we get clear on where we find our greatest meaning, we will be naturally led to opportunities to move into greater relationship and community with others.
    .
  4. Reconnect with nature. Recent scientific evidence demonstrates what great philosophers and teachers have always known:  nature heals. When you spend time in the natural world, you realize you are an integral part of the whole of creation. As we embrace nature, many experience deep peace and greater purpose.
    .
  5. Live consciously. Making thoughtful choices about what we consume and how we invest our time and money leads us back to who we truly are and into a more holistic relationship with others. When more members of a community are empowered to make informed choices and bring forward a natural curiosity about life, the community at large benefits.
